If that's really for reals, I can't wait to hear it. Either way, thanks again for working on this. I used to see it on peoples' lists back around 2000, but lately it's become a very rare recording.

Out Of Site? Are you sure? That would be, I won't say impossible, but really weird. That didn't get recorded until 1996, and there's no record of
it being played live until 2003.

Thanks, Aricher | ||

Aricher, can't wait to hear the Empty Bottle show. Thanks so much for doing this. The whole dynamic of the band was so different back then, in part
because of the drummer, I think.

Yes, it is "Out of Sight," just a short fragment, mainly the chorus. Like I said, Ill try to post it all ASAP.

Anybody here have a good 1996-1997 show that can be uploaded to megaupload? I've been wanting to listen to one for a while, but they're pretty hard to
find....

Happy Friday everyone. I finally am done digitizing the 1994 Empty Bottle show. I have also created some album art using a scan of the t-shirt I bought at the
show. I have posted both FLAC and m4a (Apple Lossless) files to my server space. The m4a files are ready to dump into iTunes, artwork and notes are already
embedded in the file. The album artwork has been included in both .zip files in case anyone wants to print it out for a CD case.
Mark in Portland - I saw on bts23 that you updated the setlist for this show. Please give credit to my friend who actually taped the show - Clark Nelson. If you want to you can give me credit for digitizing it but you don't have to. These files will be up on my server for 30 days, after that I would like it if someone here could please seed them as torrents. I don't have the time or patience right now to seed the files. Have a great weekend! m4a files: files.me.com/adamricher/rdq5ng FLAC files: files.me.com/adamricher/rcdg1g Coming up next - 1997 shows from Lounge Ax and Metro |

aricher: You are truly a god among men. Tell Clark that as well.
I might upload these to dime and waffles if someone doesn't beat me to it. Also, what's the album artwork? I know the piece itself but I don't remember the connection it had to Built to Spill, though I do remember reading about that somewhere.

It's a scan of the t-shirt I bought at the show - it's Picasso's "The Old Guitar Player" from 1903 - currently housed at The Art
Institute here in Chicago.

Adam: I updated the notes on this show per your request. I've had a loose policy of only posting first names or handles to preserve a shred of anonymity,
but I'm happy to change that if you like.
I have to say dude, when you make a promise, you come through in style! I'm just going on shift at work here in Sydney, so I can't listen to the whole thing until tonight, but I sat out on a balcony overlooking the city and the harbor and had a listen to Hazy and Out Of Site just now. It cracked me up when right after Hazy Brett did that exact same noodle on the bass that he does to this day between songs. Took me right back to the time when gigs were recorded on cassettes, and half the recordings had cuts because we guessed wrong about when to flip the tape. When this gig happened I'd been living in Portland for a little over a year, had a six month old baby and no car. Hard enough to get down the street for a gig at the X-Ray or Satyricon, ten minutes walk from my apartment; Yo Yo A Go Go had just happened in Olympia and I didn't even know it was on. I'd seen Unwound, Heatmiser, Quasi (all at the X-Ray), but had no idea about Built To Spill until three years later. |

Doug definitely sounds like he's been digging on some Modest Mouse around the time of this show. His guitar stance looks like Isaac's at times and all
those harmonic whammys during Lie for a Lie are telling. I do love the extended jams in that you can really see whatever's going on in Doug's head at
the time.

Flip that sentence around and I'm with you 100%. +1 on that, Brock had his own Martsch-o-Rama Emulation Machine back then. |
