Posts: 2 May 19 06 2:59 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None Andy Capps was found dead this morning at approximately 1:30am. Cause of death at this point has been undetermined. I'm struggling with whether or not it is appropriate to even post this, but I was a good friend of his and roomate for a few years and thought it was important for others who may have strayed from the Boise area and check this site to know. Goodbye Andy, I certainly will miss you..........

Posts: 2 May 19 06 5:24 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	He played drums on There's Nothing Wrong With Love. Also played in Butterfly Train. We were good friends when I lived in Boise, we were roomates for a couple of years. He drove me crazy, but one couldn't help but love the guy. Too sad....

Posts: 29 May 21 06 12:59 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Andy was also the drummer for Farm Days. Farm Days was the first band of Brett Nelson and Doug Martsch. When Doug moved to Boise from Twin Falls he maintained the band by travelling to Twin Falls on the weekends occasionally or Brett and Andy would come to Boise for a few days. I (Ken Cole) joined the band for a brief time as another guitarist and I remember the practice sessions well. Andy didn't start out as the greatest drummer and occasionally would lose a drum stick. Whenever I would hear a missed beat I would duck in case a drum stick went flying through the room but I never got hit (very hard). Obviously, Andy became an accomplished drummer and I will miss him as a friend too. R.I.P. Andy "May your trails be dim,lonesome,stony,narrow,winding and only slightly uphill. I remember he used to write these articles in one of the weeklys about WWII military weapons and battles. It just seemed like an odd, cool interest for someone in Boise's "scene" to have. Here's to ya, Andy.

An informal memorial service will be held 4 p.m. June 10 at the Connector restaurant, 249 S. 16th, Boise. No formal obituary has been posted and the autopsy report and toxicology results will not be available for a week or two. It saddens me to see how little press coverage his passing has received (actually, I havent seen it covered at all). In addition to BTSs 1994 album, Theres Nothing Wrong With Love, Capps played in several Boise-based bands, including Splinter, Farm Days (the first band of Built to Spill frontman Doug Martsch), Butterfly Train, and the Falldowns. He was also a writer and military historian who had previously written columns for the zine Streetmag and the Boise Weekly. Ill be writing more about Andy and his contributions to the Northwest music community in next weeks paper.

Posts: 29 May 30 06 4:14 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I won't speak for the band but I'm sure that Brett and Doug are shattered over this, as am I. Let them grieve in their own way. They have known Andy since they were kids and I'm sure they are taking this very hard. This is much like the time that Pat Schmaljohn (Brown) killed himself. Doug was very upset but didn't put out a press release about his feelings. It's not about Built to Spill. It's about Andy. And as far as comment is concerned their publicist did confirm Andy's death. Personally I have been thinking of Andy all week and will miss him greatly even though I haven't seen him in years. He was one-of-a-kind.
